Flame for Learning

As most of you know I was nominated for the Flame for Learning/ Teacher of the Year award. I was very excited about it, spent a lot of time on it, and thought I would definitely stand out. Well today I received a letter that my nomination was not going through to the next level. I was very disappointed but there are a few things I thought about afterwards. First of all my "best practice" was different and  some people don't like different. Secondly, it is decided by the chamber of commerce and what do they know about education...really! Lastly, Josh told me that every action has an opposite but equal reaction, so if this bad news means great news from my grad school interview on Monday, then I'm ok with it. Thanks for your support and I know I am your teacher of the year! =)

A couple months ago Josh and I signed up for a Van Huesan rewards card. It was free and Josh does buys several special occasion and work clothes from there. Well for signing up we got $10 rewards, our purchase that day earned us another $10, and we got a year end reward for $5, so $25 total. Tonight we went by there because they expire on Monday. Josh has been wanting a sports jacket so we found one for $200, on the 85% off rack. After rewards, $200 sport jacket $6!!! Deal of the day!

Very Jane

There is a website called Very Jane that has really cute but inexpensive items. A friend of mine has a 9 month old and she really enjoys the website. They have great deals on bows, hand bands, etc for  Regan and things for adults as well.

Thorpe reunion

Everyone should have received an email from Deb asking for help by sending dates you would not be available in May & June.  If you didn't let me know.
If it would be easier to send her dates you ARE available that will be ok too.  She's hoping for responses from everyone by Feb. 28.  I hope we can find a date that works for everyone.

"Josh's" Ninja Blender

Most people don't believe it but Josh and I didn't have a blender...until Saturday! There have been many occasions where a blender would have been awesome, but it just wasn't a priority. Saturday morning I realized that some tasks would be so much easier with a blender so I ran the idea by Josh. To my surprise he was very excited about it and even had one in mind...shock! So we went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond with our coupons and bought a Ninja blender. My wine slushies were fabulous for girls night out and Josh and I have been relaxing with our real fruit smoothies. Guess you could say...life is good!
